Sampletank 3 instruments in ST4

Postby dwayne00 » Sat Mar 28, 2020 12:54 am

Hello,

I just downloaded ST4 and I still have ST3. I want to know how do I use the ST3 instruments in ST4?

I'm having the same problem. There is no "Library" icon, or any indication of how to import ST3 libraries into ST4.

Hello dwayne00 and briaboy.

You need to include the pathway to your ST3 sounds in the ST4 Content tab.

1) Click on Settings (gear icon) and click the Sound Content tab.
2) Click Add and navigate the browser to where your SampleTank 3 content folder is.
3) Select this main SampleTank 3 folder and click open. Do not go down further into the ST3 folder as ST4 needs to see the Instrument and the Samples.
4) If required click Rescan All if ST4 doesn't do it automatically.

Once done, whatever ST3 libraries you have should now appear in ST4. You do not need to use the Import function.

Hope that helps.

I did this and I see under the library section ST3Imported and under that I see ST3 Free and it has a download symbol over it. It's blacked out. When I click on the ST# Imported icon nothing comes up. I can't even find the drum kits from ST3 when I click on drums.

Which version of ST3 did you have? ST3CS, Standard or MAX?

In the library column, your ST3 icon should appear directly under the one for ST4. You will only have something in ST3 Imported if you have older instruments, such as SampleTron or SonikSynth, that were imported into ST3 previously.

Perhaps you could post some screen shots of your main ST4 window and the Sound Content settings, to give us a better idea of what you're seeing. Instructions on how to do that can be found in this thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=432" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ST3 imported is ok for me. However, all my other libarries from ST3: e.g. Cinematic Orhcestra, Keyboards of the 60s and 70s etc, have been imported not as separate libraries, but into a huge, long list of instruments. This makes it impossible to open the individual libraries and choose an instrument...

If you have clicked on the ST3 Imported icon, click on the Folder icon at the top of the column, next to where it says Library. This should now categorise your ST3 imported instruments by their original collection names eg. SampleTron, SampleMoog etc.

^^^
Except that it takes over 50 seconds here, each time it is selected, to build the folder hierarchy (admittedly for about 33,000 imported ST3 instruments). It looks like ST4 is building the complete list, rather than doing it folder by folder as they are opened.

Can't comment on that DS, I've only got SampleTron as an ST3 Imported instrument :D Is your library on SSD or HDD?

Might be something to put on the Wishlist.

I have Sampletank 3 - version 3.0.1. Here is what I'm seeing.

"ST3 Imported" is for those instruments Imported into ST3 (e.g. SampleMoog, Sonik Synth2). Which ones did you import.

And what do you have under "SampleTank 3"?

Exactly which SampleTank products do you have?
Exactly where are their sounds libraries installed (full disk path)?
What paths are listed in ST4's Preference settings?
