B3-X latency issue

Postby ZeroZero1 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 11:59 am

Hi, I have a very fast 64bit PC WIN 10 latest - 64 gig of Ram, Asus mobo. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen Audio device. I am evaluating Hammond's B-3X and getting latency issues.

In the Hammond standalone, I am trying to set the "Technology" tab to Asio, when I do, the whole interface dissapears. Currently latency is about 10 ms under Windows Audio. Buffer size is 256 which is the lowest selectable. Sample rate is 44100.
I took a look into my Audio interface (Focusrite Control) there seems to be no way of setting the buffer size at all, which is weird to me. I should be able to select Asio in the B-3x. Anyone know what is happening here?

Hello ZeroZero1 and welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are running into.

As this is primarily a user to user forum, someone-else may chime in. Meanwhile, the best thing to do is raise a Support Ticket, here:

for some one to one help (US (East Coast) Business hours, generally).

I am currently using the trial version, I won't buy until I know it can work, but the support ticket requires a serial number, which I don't yet have.

I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface with ASIO as the Technology and output device as the Focusrite USB ASIO. I'm able to select buffer size as low as 16.

Hi can you let me know how to set buffer size using the FOcusrite control? I see no way of altering things.

On my Windows 10 PC, I run "C:\Program Files\FocusriteUSB\ASIO Control Panel.exe". From there I can set the buffer size. Alternatively, I can also set the buffer size within the Hammond-B3X application when running in standalone mode.

Thank you for your input John. I just downloaded and reinstalled the Focusrite drivers (again) and the ""C:\Program Files\FocusriteUSB\ASIO Control Panel.exe" file is not there. It also does not show up in searches on the PC

My DAW is Pro Tools. Intel I7 7700 M2 digital C: drive- w/ 32 gb ram 14 allocated to audio engine. @256 buffers at 24 bit 48 K. The product works great in stand alone , BUT, when used as an AAX instrument insert the CPU load jumps from less than 20 with a fully loaded song to 65- 100% when recording. During playback CPU load is 50-60 %. Disabling B3 drops Cpu load back to level before activation. This is Not a latency issue , but a CPU load issue. I had both B4 and B4II 32 bit products from IK years ago and never had a hiccup. I REALLY hope they " Get the Bugs out in a updated program".

I am experiencing latency issues, though others may have different problems. I cannot select my Focusrite Asio Driver, the app crashes. This means that I am stuck with Win Audio and I know of no way of changing the buffer size from 256. Googling has found no method. Perhaps it is not possible, anyway I should be using the Asio driver.

Maybe it gets installed somewhere-else. Try a Search for "Control Panel"

I would contact Focusrite, tell them what you've done and ask them how to get the Control Panel

Hold on, we've gone round in circles- in your first post you said that you had "Focusrite Control". That must be it. :)

Any use?

Sounds like you'll need to contact Focusrite.
