Pharharmonik 2

Postby DavidR1 » Thu Apr 25, 2019 1:39 pm

I recently purchased the full version of Pharharmonic 2.

I met all the requirements for a crossgrade etc... ie spent more than £99, Mirolsav Philharmonik V1, Sample tank 3 (upgrade from 3SE)

Everything appears to have to loaded into my DAW which is Cubase 9.5 pro.

Anyway I have been having a look at the sounds to get used to what was on there and was surprised to say that I was expecting unusual instruments such as an Alto or Bass Flute, Ondes Martenon you know the run of the mill everyday types type of instruments. (I was trying to see what was in the 58 gb download)

When I load into Cubase the options available are to have Philharmonik 2 or Sampletank 3. I go with the first version ie Phil 2,. When I look at the instruments I see Woodwinds, Brass and Strings. Below this is Phil 1 with all the instruments all bar the ones that I want.

Question is should I be accessing PhilharmoniK2 via Sampletank 3 in Cubase? Note that in Sampletank in the old Phil1 the alto and bass flutes are there. In stand alone mode they are not.

Also the Piccolo in the woodwind section has an incorrect setting in that there are only 11 or 12 notes not the full range in Phil 2 but in Phil one you have all of the range?

This is the Phil 2 with the 12 or so notes:

This is the piccolo from the Phil 1 with the full range of register:

Any ideas? Ta in advance.

PS I have had to URL my image links as they don't show using the img code.

Hi David

As a general answer, you can use MP2 as its own instrument or as an instrument collection in ST3 when you use it in Cubase (or standalone for that matter). All of the instruments in MP2 should be available in ST3 - it should be identical. If you think that you are missing something or you have not got the same instruments available to you in both, you should open a ticket with official IK support for some one-to-one help https://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/mi/

MP2 is a collection of instruments specifically chosen for sampling by Mirsolav Vitous, so if something isn't there, it's because he didn't want it.

With regards to the piccolo in MP2, I presumed the restricted note range was because of the specific instrument chosen to be sampled. However, if you open a ticket with official IK support they would be able to give you a more definitive answer.

Hope that helps.
