American Acoustic Feature request

Postby gonczi » Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:09 pm

The sampled strum feature of the American Acoustic pack should allow setting of a root key and scale type, and then play the "correct" chord type for each note of the scale. Using select-able 3 note or 4 note voicing. It can sort of do this now for 3 note voicing although neither easy nor intuitive.
E.g:
In the key of C major the chords on the notes are:
Cmaj7, Dmin7 Emin7 Fmaj7 G7 Amin7 Bm7b5.

The AA sampled strum should be aware of this, and auto-pick the correct chord type
given a key pressed. We can sort of do this for a min major or minor keys using the key switched maj-min pattern, but it is a major pain to operate.

What I propose would allow an easy and intuitive way of playing a strummed accompaniment to a tune in a given key signature without much fuss.

For extra credit, do the same for unusual scales.
E.g.: play the correct chord for each note of the Frigian scale,
or the harmonic minor scale.

Would be useful for all patterns. The current method of switching the major/minor based on which octave triggers is is totally non-scalable and awkward.

Teaching SampleTank a bit of chord theory and using "smart patterns"
so it does the right thing would be really useful .

Sampletank has a pretty steep learning curve, I almost gave up...
