This may be a slightly stupid question, but, here goes.
I've been using a stomp io for a little while and I've found that when I switch to really high gain setups, the gain knob lights go red very quickly even at low volumes. I'm using a pretty hot humbucker (SD distortion). I ajust the knob for this, but once I start playing I'm again in overload. I'm not sure if I need to be turning the gain knob down such that there is no red while I'm playing, or just after switching amps. The volume knob is currently turned to max/close to max as I'm playing through headphones most of the time - without doing that, I don't have much volume in my ears.
