IRig HD2 for Gallien Krueger Bass Guitar Ipad App

Well sure enough the 3.5mm headphone/output jack on my IPad 5 is nackered and requires repair (geez what a poor design huh? astounding). So, as a result I'm unable to use headphones or a line out from the iPad. I'm currently using an older IRig Pro to plug my bass guitar into the iPad using the USB-C jack, and using the Gallien Krueger bass guitar app. Question: Would my problem best be solved by getting the 3.5mm jack repaired (only to probably have it fail again in a year), or, would purchasing the IRig HD2 better solve my problem? To be honest, the sound quality difference would lean toward iRig HD 2 if you have it in your budget. A digital input interface will sound much better than one that plugs into the headphone jack.
