iRig HD X headphone out audio quality drops and hissing

I recently bought an iRig HD X and registered it and did everything the manuals told me to do. I'm pretty sure I'm using it right. So far, there has been one major issue. After a while, like fifteen minutes or so of playing to music, I notice that the headphone audio quality drops dramatically with noticeable hissing and buzzing. It sounds like 8-bit music (in a bad way). I've read somewhere online that it might be related to some kind of "demo mode" for other interfaces, but I've yet to see information specific to the HD X. It's not my headphones that are the problem. I've tried a different pair and the problem still exists. It's probably not my instrument either because I've played for longer on other interfaces (not from IK) with no issues.

Before I started using it, I did run a firmware update, and I'm wondering if the firmware has anything to do with this. Also, for extra details, I'm using it with my 2020 MacBook Air on Garageband. I do have it near a wifi access point but if that was causing the problem, it would be hissing and buzzing all the time. At least I think that'd be the case. I'm contemplating performing a firmware recovery but the system message really makes me paranoid, and I'd like other opinions on this.

So far, the only temporary fix I found is to unplug and replug the HD X to buy me some time. I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered something similar and how this could be remedied, thanks.
