Tonex Pedal as audio interface on Ubuntu – no input signal

Postby elroyski » Mon Apr 07, 2025 1:40 pm

Hi everyone!

First of all – huge thanks to the IK Multimedia team for making such awesome gear. Tonex is absolutely killer! Great sound, solid build, super useful – love it. Big respect!

I know Linux isn’t officially supported, but I really wanted to use Tonex as an audio interface on Ubuntu. The device is recognized just fine by the system, and audio output works perfectly. However, the input (guitar) doesn’t seem to work – no signal is coming through.

I’ve tried with ALSA and PulseAudio, and also tested it in Reaper. The device shows up correctly as input/output, but there’s just no input signal even when the guitar is plugged in.

Has anyone had success using Tonex as an audio interface under Linux and managed to get the input working? Maybe with JACK or some custom config?

Any help would be greatly appreciated – I'd love to use Tonex not only as a great tone machine, but also as a portable interface.

Cheers!
