Switch preset within DAW.

Postby craigwojo » Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:28 pm

Is there a way to have Amplitube switch programs (preset) in the middle of a song automatically within my DAW (cakewalk)? Let's say I want to change preset Sans to 80's at measure 12 then back to Sans at measure 22.

Just wondering. Thank you,
Craig

I'm not sure about Cakewalk, but it looks like you can do it Reaper - https://youtu.be/FC7loyY63Bw?si=9tdzKRvsUIqJsuSh

You could use automations for this. Set up two tracks with AmpliTube 5 one with each preset. Then use an automation (if CW has a mute operation use that if not use a volume) at the start. On one track you turn on mute, and turn it off for the other track. Then you reverse that when you get to measure 12 and reverse it again at measure 22.

If that's confusing here's a 15-min video that will walk you through the idea using Reaper. Then you can do something almost identical with volume on Cakewalk and this two-minute video demos a couple of ways to do it.

In Reaper if you just arm the track and use play you can practice and hear this in action. That is, you don't have to record to get the functionality.
