Loud background noise with presets

I'm trying to use Amplitube with my bass guitar, but I notice most of the presets start up with a loud annoying static/hiss sound. Maybe there's too much gain somewhere, or not enough limiting. I don't know a ton about different pedals or EQ, but where should I start to try to cut down this noise? For instance, I'm looking at the Muse - Hysteria preset from ToneNet and I'm messing with all the dials but I still hear background noise no matter what I do. I want to preserve the tone as much as possible.

Oh god. I tried to open the Orion Bass Intro preset for Metallica and my speakers let out a horrible shrieking noise. Even when I turn my input volume all the way down, it's unbearable. What am I doing wrong...
