TL;DR = capturing stomps with absolutely nothing but the pedal (and a couple of cables, and of course my interface). And it's working phenomenally.

Motu M2. Left output => pedal input => pedal output => Input 1 or 2. End of story.
Originally I was using the "Boss pedal hack" where I'd run thru a GE-7 or any Boss pedal (turned off, but with battery) to act as a buffer to ensure line level was appropriate for guitar. In lieu of a reamp box.
Then I just tried it direct. And it worked amazingly. Of course I only tested with the M2 but I imagine it'll work fine with others. And of course you need to dial in your send/return levels, but you gotta do that anyway.
YMMV but my mileage is pretty good
