Cannot hear AmpliTube's sound when recording

Postby sus453 » Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:11 am

I love all the amp sims on AmpliTube 5. However, when recording on Pro Tools (iMac, Pro Tools 12), I am unable to hear the tone from AmpliTube, only my (rather nasty sounding) pedal steel guitar direct from the instrument. When I record, I hear my instrument with no modeled amp sound (the sound is the same whether the amp itself is turned on or off) but when I play back, I get the true sound. I'm onw of those people who likes to hear a nice sound when recording.

How do I solve this problem?

Thank you in advance, anyone, for your help

Hello sus453

What audio interface are you using? It's possible that you've got it set to Direct Monitoring rather than DAW, which will mean you only hear the input of the interface rather than the output of PT12.
System Specs: 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 i7 & 2015 MBP 2.2 i7, 16GB RAM
macOS10.15.7 Logic 10.6.1 Reason 11

Hi Garfy,

Thanks.

I'm using a Metric ULN-2.

Hi sus453

I've not used that interface before, but it looks like there is a software mixer app to control what you're hearing. You would need to make sure that your dry input channel is muted and the DAW return is audible via the mixer app (sounds like this second bit is already happening). You will also need to switch on input monitoring in ProTools so you can hear the effects on the input channel live.

Hope that helps.
