amplitube 5 set up

So I'm very new to anything electric guitar related (I've played classical guitar for like 20 years) and I bought the Irig 2 because it seemed like a lot more convenient than multiple amps. However when I plug it into my macbook air and open up AmpliTube it creates this unbearably loud squealing noise that I don't know how to get rid of. Is there specific input/output settings I need to change this or is it something wrong with my hardware?

Sorry to hear about your troubles! Is your iRig 2 the one that plugs into the headphone jack? If so, earbuds or headphones with a built in mic could be your problem. Try headphones without a microphone.
