MP2 - Change articulation with mod wheel (MW)

Postby Danix78 » Fri Aug 05, 2022 12:06 pm

With key switches (KS) it is not possible to change the sound (sample) gradually, for example by making a crescendo / diminuendo (with brass).

I have read that you can change articulation with mod wheel (MW), but I can't find any instrument with MW. The manual also reports instruments with MW. Searching with KS and VS yields results, but not with MW.

Does this possibility exist or not with MP2?

I enclose an example (impossible with KS) of what I ask:

Keyswitches are just that, they are switches. They switch from one specific articulation to another, depending on the note pressed.

If you would like crescendo / diminuendo, what you might want to do instead of using keyswitching, is to do this instead. Place different articulations of an instrument on separate tracks.

MP2 does have discreet patches containing specific single articulations.

For example, you could put a sustain articulation on one track and staccato on another. Then you can use mod wheel events on each track to adjust the crescendo / diminuendo independently.

@ Promidi,

Can you confirm that none of the MP2 instruments have a "MW"?

I went through the MP2 instruments in MP2.

I could not find any instruments that are actually labelled with MW. There are plenty that are labelled with KS and some that are labelled with VS.

I know the manual states that mod wheel switching is available, but I could not find any.

That being said, I would rather put single articulation on their own tracks (Parts) as you have more control over the output.

Maybe the OP might want to drop a note to IK support to clarify.

Thanks for the contributions.

Changing articulation with MW, even if advertised and reported in the manual, does not exist in MP2.

We know that there are alternatives to change "gradually" from one sound to another with the DAW (separate tracks, note expressions with Cubase, etc.), but that's not the point.

If we want MP2 to be updated and MP3 (if it comes out) to be really better, (also reporting multi MW), we should all leave a note to IK support to clarify.

Thanks again.

I wrote to Support, reporting this thread.
I hope he is not the only one to write.
Thank you.
